Victory in Heaven and on Earth
After the fall of Babylon the Great, victory resounded in heaven and on earth. Three hallelujahs of rejoicing sounded like a great uproar of shouting in heaven.
- They praised God for judging Babylon’s immoral corruption of the earth and her murderous acts against believers.
- The multitude praised God that the smoke of her burning billows up forever.
- Then a great worship service followed, begun by the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders who fell on their knees. All of heaven heeded a voice from the throne, calling everyone–great and small–to praise Him.
“Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.”
And a second time they said, “Hallelujah! Her smoke rises up forever and ever.”
And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!”
And a voice came from the throne, saying, “Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.” Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying,
“Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Revelation 19:1b-6 NASB
The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
‘Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.’ It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Then he said to me, ‘Write, “Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.“‘
Revelation 19:7-9a NASB
Finally, we arrive at the point where we saints will marry Jesus and sit down to a bridal supper in heaven. This precedes Jesus’ return to earth to judge His enemies and to establish His kingdom. Our wedding clothes will be bright, white linen, which symbolizes our righteous acts. (See references to marriage suppers in Matthew 22:1-14, 25:1-14, and 8:11.)
Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.‘
Revelation 19:9b-10 NASB
Here is good instruction for us to never worship angels, but to worship God only. John may have been so overcome with this glorious vision that he forgot he was talking with an angel. But we also discover that Jesus’s testimony is authenticated as true by the spirit of prophecy. God’s prophecy is always absolutely true.
Christ’s Second Coming to Armageddon
In this final war on earth, called the Battle of Armageddon, all the nations will assemble to converge on Israel. But before they can fire one shot, Jesus returns to defend His chosen people and annihilate their enemies.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, ‘KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.‘
Revelation 19:11-16 NASB
What an incredible description! At Christ’s first coming, He came as a humble servant riding on a donkey who sacrificed His life as the Lamb of God for the sins of the world. But the second time, He will come on a white horse as a powerful King and Lord wearing many crowns. It’s exciting to read that we, the saints, will be part of the armies who come with Him to this final battle.
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, ‘Come, assemble for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great.‘
And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
Revelation 19:17-19 NASB
These armies will lose the battle before they can even begin to fight. Imagine the vast number of birds that will exist to eat the flesh of the hundreds of thousands of men and horses slain by King Jesus.
Final Doom of the Beast and False Prophet
And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
Revelation 19:20-21 NASB
Final judgment comes now for the Beast and the False Prophet, who will be thrown alive into the Lake of Fire. Jesus will kill the rest of these armies with the sword from His mouth, and they will have no honorable burial. Instead, the birds will feast on their flesh. These dead will be judged later at the Great White Throne Judgment.
Dear Father in heaven, thank You for Your justice on earth. We rejoice as the bride of Christ and eagerly anticipate the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. How thrilling to return to earth with You when You will save Israel and destroy the Anti-Christ and False Prophet. We praise You for this future time when all evil will cease, and we shall rule and reign with You forever in Your kingdom. In Jesus’s Name, Amen.

Alas, what rejoicing there will be when that final victory has been completed. It’s long since been won, but when The Beast is destroyed, meaning there will be no more sin, His victory is made complete. Maranatha!
Yes, what a wonderful day that will be! Maranatha!
